At that time Marcelina Fernández decided to lengthen the cut of the bodice and the skirt to the ankle, thus also covering the armpits and incorporating the small shawl as a complement. Until then the costumes were generally short and the bangs were attached to the neckline. The new styles can be seen in the costumes worn by Teresa Lorca, «La Polaca» or Matilde Coral.
Since then, the firm has been very marked by its close relationship with the artistic world. Flamenco shows, the world of cinema, theater or song, constantly demanded her creations, to such an extent that Lina was able to transfer her knowledge acquired by working with artists, also to evening dresses or wedding dresses.
In 1968, Lina made in the workshop of the Santa Cruz neighborhood another of the most important works of her career, the flamenco dress that would wear the young Princess of Asturias, Sofia. The colors chosen: red and white.

Stories should be told from the beginning to reveal surprising endings, but what if we tell them from the end? Sometimes it’s better as usual, so that the development of the story leads you to the denouement, but sometimes it’s worth doing it the other way around. But other times, it is worth doing it the other way around. Why? Because, in this case, it is necessary to know who you are now in order to tell who you were before.
Because, when you get into flamenco fashion, it is mandatory not only to know how to properly perform your duties, but to know who originated what you have today, those who have made possible the continuity of the existing fashion around the flamenco dress, which, let’s not forget, will never cease to be a regional costume.
That’s why I can’t help it when I mention Lina in any conversation and someone who, supposedly, should know what I’m talking about asks me the question: ‘And who is that?’ or this one: ‘Who is Lina?’ So, just as I have written them, they say it to me. I have come across this approach repeatedly and I never cease to be surprised.
