Despite reflecting a historical moment of interest in which, for example, the consequences of the loss of the colonies can be appreciated; in essence, La Princesa Paca is a great love story. This is how it is understood by its protagonists, who explain that the story «is told from the perspective of how Rubén is fascinated by a woman who breaks into society in a transversal way and follows her instinct, heart and intelligence to be what she wants to be».
On the other hand, the director of the miniseries explains other keys: «Paca was a feminist without knowing it. A strong and instinctive woman who, at the end of the 19th century, takes the world by storm to live with the man she loves, and above all, who, despite belonging to another cultural universe, appreciated Darío’s work and preserved it».
Indeed, the magnitude of Rubén Darío more than a century after his death does not seem to be weakening. In fact, during the preview of the series, the Minister of Justice himself, Rafael Catalá, highlighted the importance of the poet for the history of literature and Spanish. For her part, Ana Pastor, president of Congress, also attended the event and was full of praise: «Darío made the language a toast with champagne, idolized, imitated and envied by many».

The TV movie ‘La Princesa Paca’, co-produced by RTVE and La Cometa TV, arrives this Thursday, April 13 on La 1 to replace ‘Cuéntame como pasó’ which, as we have reported, is on hiatus for Easter.
Irene Escolar and Daniel Holguín lead the cast of this tv movie that also counts with the participation of actors such as Ana Wagener (Emilia Pardo-Bazán), Israel Elejalde (Valle-Inclán), Petra Martínez (Francisca), or Luisa Martín (Juana), among others. The tvmovie was presented last February at the Ateneo de Madrid.

For her part, Ana Wagner will play Emilia Pardo Bazán, who would eventually become Paca’s friend and confidant; and Petra Martínez will give life to Paca decades after the poet’s death, when she was already married to José Villacastín. In addition, Israel Elejalde will play Valle-Inclán.
The modernist poet, as will be addressed in the recording, fell in love with the young gardener and it mattered little that Paca was illiterate, her peasant origins (she grew up in Navalsauz, Ávila) or that her parents were opposed to the relationship.
