Hospital santa maria de lleida
Hospital arnau de vilanova
Thanks to the opening of these two floors in the Santa Maria and to have dedicated the entire Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the treatment of more severe patients with this pathology, it was possible to reduce the pressure on the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital in Lleida and to avoid the opening of a fourth floor in this center. During the first wave of the pandemic, patients with coronavirus in the ICU of the Arnau de Vilanova reached 80% of the total, while in July it did not reach 40%.
Hospital santa maria lleida
The Old Hospital of Santa Maria de Lleida (in Catalan Antic Hospital de Santa Maria de Lleida) is an emblematic building of the city, an example of the Catalan Gothic civil architecture (15th and 15th centuries)[1] and of the institutions of social benefit of the Middle Ages.
It is located in front of the New Cathedral of Lleida (Cathedral of Santa Maria Assumpta de Lleida). It was declared an Architectural-Artistic Monument by Royal Order on March 15, 1920.[2] It is currently the headquarters of the Institute of Lleida Studies (in Catalan Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs).
It is a building of simple structure, with a square floor plan and a square courtyard inside, where there is a fountain known as the fountain of the Dwarfs. The first floor has very thick walls to support the weight of the roof beams, and thinner walls on the upper floors.
From the hospital courtyard there is access to a gallery with pointed arches on the second floor by a staircase located at the north-east corner, next to the fountain of the Dwarfs, perched on top of a rampant turn. The accesses to the rest of the floors of the building are through interior stairs.
