Unshielded twisted pair

There is no uniform color standard. Each pair has a different basic color. In the single pair, the basic color of the insulation of one core has white or other color stripes.
Each copper wire is covered with plastic and can have a diameter of 0.4 or 0.6 mm. In the cables used in Ethernet, two cores are always twisted into a pair, hence the designation twisted = twisted, pair = pair. Most twisted pair cables consist of four pairs of wires, which are twisted again with a different number of strokes.

With S/STP, the wire pairs are provided with a foil shield. However, a metal braid is drawn around all the wire pairs as an overall shield. This is also called PiMf (pairs in metal foil).
Twisted pair cables are marked with the category Cat. and a category number. This classification of cables is based on their properties. Following, the used categories and their use:
