Una de las cosas que más te sorprenden antes de entrar, es el edificio histórico del siglo XV con su bonita fachada y su excelente ubicación en el centro de Vitoria.Una vez dentro, no te decepcionará el comedor principal y varios salones privados para cenas familiares y de empresa.La comida es bastante buena, cocina tradicional vasca. Probé el pato (uno de mis platos favoritos) y estaba muy bueno. No me sorprendieron los entrantes, quizás esperaba algo más. Pero el vino es muy bueno, algo pasa en esta zona que el vino sabe mejor aquí que en Madrid.
Fue fundado en el siglo XV como una posada. El nombre «El Portalón» hace referencia a la gran entrada de roble.Durante la rehabilitación que se hizo en los años 50, el lugar se convirtió en un restaurante.Tiene varios comedores, todos decorados con muebles y utensilios de siglos pasados. Tiene comida tradicional alavesa.
Fundado en el siglo XV como posada y convertido en uno de los edificios más importantes de Vitoria-Gasteiz, su nombre, El Portalón, hace referencia a su entrada de roble («portal», en castellano) abierta durante muchos años para albergar a los comerciantes y sus carruajes. Hoy en día, está considerado como un lugar de interés histórico y cultural y es uno de los restaurantes más interesantes de Vitoria-Gasteiz. Fue rehabilitado en los años 50, cuando se convirtió en restaurante, y por él han pasado personajes tan importantes como los Reyes de España, presidentes, lehendakaris y muchos miembros de las artes.
