FOLIVITAL® is indicated in women who have a history of previous pregnancies with alterations in neural tube formation such as anencephaly, spina bifida, myelomeningocele or craniofacial defects; it is also indicated in megaloblastic anemia. It is also indicated in any condition that triggers folic acid deficiency such as deficient dietary intake and/or alcoholism, increased requirements (as in pregnancy, lactation, early childhood), intestinal absorption defects (short circuit sprue or blind loop syndrome), use of anticonvulsants or contraceptives for prolonged periods, patients under total parenteral nutrition, patients with a pathological condition characterized by high levels of cellular renewal, psoriasis.
